Subscriber Line Charge or FCC Line Charge

This is a government-imposed charge
where lines are charged $5.00 (residential) for the first line $6.39
for each additional line (residential) and $8.08 for each business line.
These charges are common to all phone companies and the charges are
consistent from company to company. The commission uses these monies for
programs for fixed income and welfare recipients and to enforce rules and
regulations set up to protect the consumer in general.

which is to maintain a system set up to ensure that the consumer is free to
